“Women Directors: Navigating The Hollywood Boys’ Club” is the world’s foremost website to explore, expose and remedy discrimination against women directors – because global culture depends on who tells the stories.

We engage our readers to share their real experiences with discrimination and explore strategies to create gender equity among directors of film, television and new media– globally.

This site was conceived by Maria Giese and Heidi Honeycutt. You can also find it on Facebook and Twitter.

Maria Giese is an American feature film director, a member of the Directors Guild of America, and an activist for parity for women directors in Hollywood. She writes and lectures about the under-representation of women filmmakers in the United States. Read more about Maria.

Heidi Honeycutt is a film journalist, author, and feminist. She is the film programmer of the women’s film festival showcase Etheria Film Night.

  1. Hi Maria and Heidi,

Hope this message finds you well. I’m a producer at The Huffington Post’s online show, HuffPost Live. Tomorrow (Wed, May 13) at 10:40am ET, we’re having a discussion on the ACLU’s call for a federal investigation into the lack of gender diversity in Hollywood studios.

We’d love it if you could join us! This would be via webcam (Google Hangout or Skype) and would be 25 minutes long.

    Any chance you’re free?

    Thanks so much!
